The Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) - the accrediting body for the schools and colleges of optometry and for their residencies - defines an optometric residency program as a planned program of post-OD clinical education that is designed to advance significantly the optometric graduate’s preparation as a provider of patient care services beyond entry level practice.
Completing a residency in optometry is a unique and invaluable experience. Residency Information
The mission of the Cornea and Contact Lens Residency Program at the Chicago College of Optometry is to provide optometry residents with comprehensive training in specialty contact lens fitting while offering broad clinical exposure to the diagnosis and management of anterior segment diseases. This unique residency experience fosters the development of advanced clinical decision-making, evidence-based practice, and interprofessional collaboration.
The resident is primarily in clinical care at the , where they work with optometrists and corneal specialists. The resident spends two days per week at a private practice with optometrists and corneal ophthalmologists, managing anterior segment disease cases.
This program is seeking accreditation by the ACOE (first-year program). One position is available. The residency stipend is $58,000 annually, which is not contingent upon productivity.
Additional benefits such as health coverage, conference leave, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time are provided at the level of Visiting Instructor at Midwestern University.
The mission of the Ocular Disease Residency Program at Price Vision Group is to provide optometry residents with advanced training and experience in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of anterior segment ocular disease and refractive surgical care. The program aims to foster the development of critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and collaborative skills, preparing residents to provide high-quality care, pursue research opportunities, and lead in the field of optometry.
Price Vision Group is a tertiary OMD/OD referral center that provides strong exposure to anterior segment ocular disease, various types of surgical pre/post-ops, refractive procedures, and posterior segment disease.
This residency is currently seeking accreditation (first-year program). One position is available. The residency stipend is $50,000, which is not contingent upon productivity.
